Please follow the IEEE Author Final Paper Preparation and Submission Instructions in order to submit the camera-ready version of your paper:

  1. Use the SMAP 2006 Author kit to submit your camera-ready manuscript and provide the main information on your paper. You must follow all 9 steps to fulfil the camera-ready submission procedure. All submissions must be submitted electronically through the web interface (no email or ftp).
  2. The proceedings of the workshop will be published by the IEEE Computer Society. Following the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services (CPS) all publications will also be available through IEEE Xplore™ and through the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library. Therefore you must prepare your manuscript in an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF version:

    • All papers must be formatted to IEEE Conference Publications Manuscript Formatting Guidelines, as follows.
    •
    • Regular papers are limited to 6 IEEE 2-column style pages, including all figures, tables, and references.
A minimum paper length of 4 IEEE 2-column style pages is also imposed.
Up to 2 extra pages (i.e. up to 8 IEEE 2-column style pages in total) may be purchased at €30 per extra page, during registration.
    •
    • IEEE Conference Publications Manuscript Formatting Guidelines (including author templates and instructions) are available for download:
         8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format Layout Guide - Microsoft© Word
         8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format Layout Guide - PDF
         8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format Layout Guide - Postscript
         Formatting Instructions 8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format - LaTeX
         Formatting Instructions 8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format - Microsoft© Word
         Formatting Instructions 8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format - PDF
         Formatting Instructions 8.5" x 11", 2-Column Format - Postscript
    •
    • If you prefer to create your own PDF file, please change the setting on your PDF distiller to insure your paper meets IEEE PDF specifications. Basic PDF distiller settings must be changed to:

         - Optimized,
         - Acrobat 4.0 compatibility,
         - All graphics at least 300 dpi resolution, (higher if preferred),
         - All fonts must be embedded and subset,
         - Postscript settings do not override distiller settings,
         - Page size is 612.0 x 792.0 points (8.5" x 11").

IMPORTANT: Authors must check their final PDF files before submission to verify that all fonts have been properly embedded and subset. Some font manufacturers now flag their fonts to not embed. These fonts must be avoided.

    •
    • PDF eXpress™ is available for use since September 8th, 2006. PDF eXpress™ is an IEEE-sponsored online tool, freely available to assist conference organizers and authors in complying with the above requirements for PDF files. PDF eXpress™ will be used for camera-ready preparation of accepted papers.

If you would like to submit your source file to PDF eXpress™ for conversion and validation, PDF eXpress™ converts the following file types to PDF:
Postscript, Word Pro, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Freelance, QuarkXpress, PageMaker, Rich Text Format, FrameMaker, (La)TeX (DVI and all support files required)

You will login into the PDF eXpress™ system with the Conference ID: smap06 provided for SMAP 2006 along with other specific author and paper information. Once this step is completed you can upload either your source file or PDF file for Conversion; and/or PDF Checking. This process allows you to create an IEEE Xplore™-compatible PDF file. If there is a problem with your file, you will receive an e-mail detailing the problem(s). Otherwise the system will e-mail you a copy of your IEEE Xplore™-compatible PDF file.

IMPORTANT: IEEE PDF eXpress is not a manuscript-collection system and does not replace SMAP's 2006 SMAP 2006 Author kit. Once authors verify that they have IEEE Xplore-compatible versions of their manuscripts, they will still need to upload the files to the SMAP 2006 Author kit site.

    •
    • Please note that only IEEE Xplore™-compliant PDF files can be accepted for camera-ready paper submissions.

  3. The deadine for submitting the camera-ready version of your paper is September 18th, 2006.
  4. Questions about the submission process may be sent to loconner@computer.org or smap@image.ntua.gr.
