1st International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization
(SMAP 2006)
December 4-5, 2006, Athens, Greece

On Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5, 2006, National Technical University of Athens, University of Indianapolis Athens Campus and Brunel University are organizing the 1st International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization (SMAP 2006). This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners from related fields in order to discuss the state of the art, recent advances and future perspectives for semantic media adaptation. Specifically, it will cover areas such as knowledge acquisition and management, ontologies, knowledge models for personalization, semantic context modeling and extraction, content adaptation, user profiling, personalized filtering and so on.

2 Day Event

Dear SMAP 2006 friends and contributors, you may recall that this workshop started out as a one day event, planed to take place on December 5, 2006. We are happy to report that the interest and focus the workshop has received has been so intense that we have now clearly exceeded not only our initial expectations but also the capacity of our venue. As a result, we are forced to extend SMAP to a two day event, spanning both Monday, December 4 and Tuesday, December 5, 2006. We hope this change will not upset your schedules, and also that it may give some of you the opportunity to combine SMAP with a nice weekend in Athens.

Athens Becomes a Meeting Point for Semantics and Media

SMAP 2006 will take place right beneath the Acropolis and just next to the roman market, in the beautiful building that used to host the Goulandri Horn museum. SMAP 2006 will take place two days before SAMT 2006 so that participants are facilitated in attending both events. However, SMAP 2006 is a standalone event and not an integral part of SAMT 2006.
